About 5 Hats AI and 5 Hats Learning

Meet Dee — the person behind 5 Hats Learning, and your instructor for today's session.

Dee is the founder of 5 Hats Learning, where she develops technology and AI education for adult and youth audiences. She brings 15+ years of instructional experience — including train-the-trainer work specifically in AI — and a background spanning Silicon Valley firms, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the Institute of Business and Economic Research at UC Berkeley. She holds certifications to teach AP Computer Science and Middle School Computer Science, and over the past three years has mentored individuals and private small groups in AI. Her workshops break down how AI tools actually work — no jargon, no hype — so participants can use them with more confidence and judgment.

Beyond these AI Literacy workshop, Dee has developed a range of related presentations and materials: a mini workshop on machine learning fundamentals — how models are built, trained, and evaluated; a presentation on bias in AI, covering the different ways it shows up in systems and how prompting choices can reduce it; and research into how AI is reshaping the fashion industry, from trend forecasting to design. She's also applied AI to distill material into digestible formats — most notably compressing sound healing training material into a set of infographics using Adobe Firefly and Nano Banana 2.
